Marine Geological Sampling Equipment

Marine Geological Sampling Equipment consist of four major components: Piston Corer, Box Corer, Grab Sampler, Dredger.

Piston Corer

Piston corer collects marine geological samples. Piston Corer is operated on the side working deck by using special handling equipments called a corer bucket, corer davit. The head of the piston corer is locked up by the corer bucket. One(1) set of piston corer which is capable of taking undisturbed sediment shall be provided as follows.

Areas of application

Box corer collects marine geological samples. Box corer should be gathered un-disturbance sample and enable to control the quantity of sample by weight. Box corer is operated on the aft working deck by using an stern A-frame.

Grab sampler

Grab Sampler is operated on the aft working deck by using an stern A-frame.

Dredger

Dredger collects marine geological samples and marine organisms. This equipment works by being towed behind the research vessel. Dredher is operated on the aft working deck by using an stern A-frame.
