Hallin Marine commences Korean ROV support project

Hallin Marine has commenced a remotely-operated vehicle (ROV) support and inspection project in the Donghae gas field located off the coast of South Korea in the Sea of Japan.

The contract includes deployment of the latest addition to Hallin's fleet, the DP2 vessel Kendal, which will be supporting a range of underwater inspection and survey services for the the ROV and survey equipment onboard.

"We have operated successfully in the South Korean market on earlier projects and have a good understanding of the region's offshore support market based on these past experiences," said Rik Zwinkels, Managing Director of Hallin's Singapore East Division. "I am confident that this latest venture will extend our reputation as a complete and highly efficient integrated service provider.

"Kendal was chosen for her suitability to the conditions of the environment. Her structural design and onboard equipment are ideal for the provision of full IRM support and services in the harsh weather conditions for which the Donghae field is known."

Commenced on 11 October, the project is scheduled to run for 30 days.
